  • Old Navy Shorts Try On

I popped into Old Navy to look around and check out new inventory. I took the opportunity to take stock of their shorts and tops, and do a quick try on. There are lots of deals at Old Navy right now.

Denim shorts are a warm weather necessity so I will start with those…

    DENIM SHORTS

I tried on two lengths of the same fit. The first is a shorter, rolled denim short and the second a longer, frayed pair. I prefer a high waist fit to my denim shorts and both pairs offered that fit.

90s FIT HIGH WAIST STRAIGHT CUFFED JEAN SHORTS – 3 INCH INSEAM

    TANK, sized Small | SHORTS – sized up to a 6, $30 | SHOES | EARRINGS | LIPSTICK

FIT: I loved these shorts! The 90s fit. The button closure. Slight stretch to fabric for give, and smart pockets for smoothing effect at belly.

SIZING: I would size up in these for sure. I chose a size 6 over my normal 4, and could of even gone with an 8 for an even more nostalgic oversized fit. Also, the inseam is 3″, which means these are short. If you prefer a longer fit, there is a 5″ version here, and 7″ version here.

CARE: I would wash these babies inside out and hang dry or drape them over a chair. Dryers wreck havoc on natural fibers, and denim is cotton after all. Plus there is a little spandex int here, and dryers burn spandex fibers.

COST: These were on flash sale for $16 at the entrance table. They are currently on sale for $30 (Originally $39.99) You can snatch them up here.

HIGH WAIST STRAIGHT CUT OFF SHORTS – 5 INCH INSEAM

    SHORTS – TTS, $25

These shorts are great if you prefer some length or versatility since you can roll them as you like.

FIT: These are the same 90s fit as the pair above, only with a longer 5″ inseam. Button closure, and smart slimming pockets. Slight stretch for give.

SIZING: I found these to be true to size.

CARE: I would also wash these inside out in cold water, and hang or drape dry them. Keep the heat off that small stretchy fiber.

COST: Currently on sale for $25.00 (originally $34.99), Get them here.

    LINEN PULL-ON SHORTS

The second type of shorts that I looked at are the linen pull-on shorts. I love the relaxed vibe a pair of linen shorts lends to a look. Kinda beach, kinda lake life, perfect for all things summer.

These shorts are a steal at $14!!

These brown colored shorts also come in olive, mustard, black, brown and clay red.

FIT: These shorts are high waisted with an elastic waistband and drawstring. They have a 3.5″ inseam, and a faux fly. The striped shorts are a blend of cotton and linen and the brown colored shorts are a mix of cotton & rayon. I liked them both, but favor the striped ones simply for the fabric content. I stay away from rayon in the summer, it will make you sweat since it does not breathe.

SIZE: I found these to run a little loose but true to size. You want them to be somewhat generous since they are meant to be more relaxed and pull on.

CARE: The fabric content means that they should be washed in cold cycle, and dried on low or hung.

COST: On sale for $14 (Originally $18) Brown colored here. Railroad stripe here.

    TWILL HIGH WAISTED TIE SHORTS

The third style that caught my eye were the high waisted, tie belt shorts. Old Navy calls these “Workwear Shorts.” They are a sturdier, thicker fabric than the shorts above. It might be a canvas fabric.

Also available in mauve, black, gray, olive, lavender and the dark tan above.

FIT: These shorts are a true to size fit. High waisted with a 4.5″ inseam. Tie belt and elasticized waist and zipper closure. The fabric is a cotton twill.

SIZE: True to size, they are slightly over sized and are not meant to be snug.

    CARE: Cold wash, hang dry.

COST: $35 (Originally $ 34.99) Get them in olive, black, mauve, lavender and olive here.

    FINAL THOUGHTS

Old Navy has such a great selection of shorts and some great deals. I always find tons of new things each season to update my wardrobe with. I always look for high quality fabrics like cotton and linen. The brand does these very well and so inexpensively.

Of all the shorts I tried on, the only pair that made it home with me is the first pair of denim shorts, the rolled ones. I really liked the fit and thought they’d be a great short to share in daily outfits on Instagram.

Stay tuned for the Tops that I tried on, in my next post…..
